Vanity, thy name is Posh

People Magazine has the dishy scoop on Posh's vanity line, dVb:


"The blogosphere has been buzzing with reports that Victoria Beckham’s dVb denim line is being dropped from several top retailers, including L.A.’s famous Fred Segal and Kitson boutiques. Turns out that while the line isn’t dropped from Kitson, it’s definitely not performing up to expectation — and that’s being attributed to Posh’s laissez-faire attitude. Kitson owner Fraser Ross tells PEOPLE, “She’s not supporting the line. It’s not good for her brand and not good for her endorsements. In a tough economy, you need to be in partnership with the people that are selling your line to your fans. That’s the bottom line.” And it’s not like she’s not nearby. Ross tells PEOPLE that “Victoria lives fifteen minutes from the store. That’s just bad business.” But, he hasn’t given up hope in reviving the line and is in talks with her people to prop up the ailing sales. “We haven’t dumped it. Hopefully there will be some kind of resolution.”

This is what happens when people with no design skills but a lot of money think they can become designers. They just sign off on any old shit and don't do the back-breaking work required to launch and sell their line. Stuff like this just isn't good for the fashion industry. People like Posh and Sarah Jessica Parker do more good for the world of fashion by WEARING good clothes than by "designing" (and we use that term loosely) bad ones.

Ironically, Posh's biggest fan just recently voiced similar thoughts:



"Project Runway champ Christian Siriano dissed The Hills stars Lauren Conrad and Whitney Port at the TAO Beach Season Two Grand Opening in Las Vegas on April 12. Apparently their fashion lines aren’t good enough!

Christian told Life & Style, “It’s really sad that if I didn’t win Project Runway, I probably wouldn’t have the sponsors I have now. I would have never been able to do what they have done because they all have disposable income, and yet their work still isn’t that great! I mean, it’s fun and flirty and young, but they’re not innovators. None of them will ever be an innovative designer. Buyers and editors are looking for longevity, and hopefully they will see that in me.”
